Playing Now

Samurai Pie is on, as I type this. If you've forgotten about it though, don't worry, it will be on again this Friday. There are four new Backyardigans episodes premiering on Nick Jr. Monday through Thursday. Friday will be a Backyardigans marathon, and each of the four will be aired again.

  1. Oh my gosh! I found your site after googling voices for the Backyardigans. Did you notice that Tyrone is completely different? I'm kinda disappointed!

And I need to get a life, I think!

  2. I am a huge fan of the backyardigans, but I'm feeling that these past two new episodes (Mission to Mars and Samurai Pie)are not up to the usual greatness. The song lyrics repeat too often and aren't funny like usual. But I do enjoy hearing how the voices have matured! Very cute. Am I the only one thinking it's not up to snuff?

  3. Yes, knitting, one of Tyrone's voice actors left and was replaced. You can read about it at http://thebackyardigans.blogspot.com/2006/05/new-voice-for-tyrone.html

I think what you're noticing with the music, anonymous, is maybe the style of music? Mission to Mars, for instance, is Kenyan High Life. That type of music just might not be your thing.

That being said, some episodes are better than others, certainly. I found Mission to Mars rather repetitive at first, but now that my kids have watched umpteen million times, the music is really starting to grow on me! :) I loved Alicia Keys - she has such a wonderful, warm voice, doesn't she?

  5. Anonymous #2 - are you sure both Tyrone's voices have been replaced? Talking voice sounded the same to me, just more mature. His singing voice is obviously different. I need to buy the new DVD and pause the credits to tell for sure.
