  1. We are big fans of the Backyardigans, however, we have seen a couple episode when we were in Ontario Canada that we have NOT seen in the US. We actually saw the "Into the Deep" episode months ago! We also saw another episode where they are driving a stagecoach. Any ideas why Canada gets new episodes before we do??

  2. Canada has always had the new episodes aired before the U.S. I don't know why that is, but I'd be willing to bet it's because of something contractual with Treehouse TV. They've probably got first North American airing rights or something.

If you're interested in the subject, here are some interesting articles about rights. http://www.writing-world.com/international/intrights.shtml

They're both about writing, because I couldn't find any articles about video rights, but the same principle applies.

  8. Ontario Canada sees the Backyardigans first because it's made here - in Toronto in fact. Down in Liberty Village (King and Dufferin) there is a building were Nelvana creates the look of the show's audio that is taped in the US.

  16. My 14 month old daughter LOVES the backyardigans. I think that is even an understatement. She squeels and jumps upand down when the theme music comes on. We recently go a DVR and we now record all the backyardigan episodes! We just watched this one, and it is really good. I have really come to love them myself too. It's such a great show.
